Access

Clones is located less than 1 kilometre from the Border with Northern Ireland, 20 km from Monaghan and 25 km from Cavan along the N54 national road, which links Belfast to Galway. The bus stop is located on 98 Avenue, Clones. Daily services are available to Dublin, Monaghan, Cavan and Enniskillen.

Clones has 36 hectares of lands zoned for Industry & Employment. Significant parcels of land have been included to the eastern end of the town which can be easily accessed from the N54 national road. Additional lands are zoned within the town along with various available commercial premises.

Clones also offers a state-of-the-art Business Technology Park within the town centre which has nine office units, served by broadband and with a management company for the upkeep of common areas.

Clones has ample provision for water supply and treatment. The town’s current demand for drinking water is 1,200 m³/day with a treatment capacity of 2,200 m³/day.

The town’s wastewater treatment plant has a plant design of 4,500 population equivalent (P.E.) and is currently catering for 3,100 P.E.

Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) the third level institution for the region is located less than one hour’s drive from Monaghan. The town is also accessible to a range of other third level institutions, both north and south of the border.

Accommodation is available in the Creighton Hotel or the Cuil Daragh both of which are located in the centre of town.  Clones is famous for its Clones Lace and many items of this lace can be found in the Canal Stores, Cara Street, Clones. The Canal Stores also cater for lunches and snacks.

The town and surrounding area offer a wide range of activities which include golfing, fishing and many indoor classes and gym facilities are available in the state of the art Peace Link which is located at Liseggerton, Clones.

Many visitors take an opportunity to explore a town rich in archaeology, including a Round Tower and Abbey, High Cross, Ring Forts and churches. Key festivals such as the Canal Capers Festival, St Patricks Eve Parade attract large crowds to the town annually, Clones Film Festival while the town is renowned as being home to the GAA Ulster Final.
