Monaghan’s reputation for producing ambitious young entrepreneurs continues to grow, and 16-year-old Blake McVicar is proving exactly why.
The founder of WirelessCam first began his business journey through the Student Enterprise Programme at St Macartan’s College, Monaghan, where his interest in technology, farming, and practical problem-solving quickly developed into a real business opportunity.
This week, Blake represented the county at the Student Enterprise Programme National Finals in Mullingar, a major achievement for any entrepreneur, particularly at just 16 years of age.
In only a few short months, wirelesscam.ie has already generated more than €21,000 in sales, supplying wireless camera systems tailored specifically for the farming and equine sectors. From monitoring livestock during calving season to improving yard security and allowing horse owners to remotely monitor horse boxes and facilities, the business is solving practical challenges faced by rural customers every day.
Blake’s understanding of the agricultural community has been a key factor in the company’s rapid growth. Farmers and equine customers increasingly want reliable, easy-to-use technology that performs in busy rural environments, and wirelesscam.ie has quickly built a reputation for delivering straightforward solutions backed by personal service.
His success also highlights the importance of initiatives like the Student Enterprise Programme, which continue to encourage innovation, confidence, and entrepreneurship among young people across Monaghan and Ireland.
From a school enterprise project to representing Monaghan on the national stage, Blake McVicar’s progress shows what can be achieved through hard work, practical thinking, and a strong understanding of local industry. At just 16, he has already built a business serving the farming and equine community while achieving significant early growth, an impressive achievement for any young entrepreneur.
